The Chicago 414 is the 414th one-of-a-kind piece in Vortic's "Chicago" line of the American Artisan Series. This watch contains the original movement (timepiece), dial (face), and hands from a vintage (1880’s – 1950’s) pocket watch. The American Artisan Series is a line of fully American Made wristwatches powered by restored, U.S. made pocket watch movements.
What makes the Chicago 414 Unique: We dressed up this wonderful hunting style watch with a machined titanium DLC coated black case and complemented it with a gold-coated crown. The dial has a subtle blue face adorned with a very unique gold star design around the numerals. These hunting-style watches are incredibly unique and we always get excited when we see one come through the shop. We think one of the best things about a Vortic watch is most of them have crowns at 12 o'clock, however we always get the question of can we put the crown in a "normal" position at 3 o'clock. We don't do this often because the crown needs to be larger due to our engineering system but for those that asked, here you go! In addition, we LOVE the radial numerals, meaning they follow the curve of the dial. This watch was manufactured in Elgin, Illinois in 1914 by the Elgin National Watch Company. 1914 was also the start of WWI in Europe, however President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed neutrality for the United States and we remained that way until April of 1917.
