The Boston 231 is the 231st one-of-a-kind piece in Vortic's "Boston" line of the American Artisan Series. This watch contains the original movement (timepiece), dial (face), and hands from a vintage (1880’s – 1950’s) pocket watch. The American Artisan Series is a line of fully American Made wristwatches powered by restored, U.S. made pocket watch movements.
What makes the Boston 231 Unique: This dial is what our industry calls the "conversion dial." You'll notice it does not have a second hand, or the typical sub-dial for the second hand at 6 o'clock you see on most of our other watches. If you look at the movement, you may notice it appears to be 90 degrees rotated. That's because this movement was originally manufactured as a "hunting" style movement with sub-seconds at 6 o'clock and crown at 3 o'clock. At some point in the life of the movement, the second hand was removed, the movement was rotated to have the crown at 12 o'clock, and the dial now is just hours and minutes. Oh and this dial is REALLY cool...
